
If an employee uses a Zipcar for college business, the college's insurance will be excess of any provided by Zipcar. Employees How does insurance work when using a Zipcar? MHC is not responsible for any damage, loss, or claim arising from the use of ZipCars by any person unless the vehicle has been specifically rented on college business. Lower deductibles and higher insurance limits are not available to people under 21. Individuals under 21 have only state minimum insurance limits ($20,000/$40,000/$5,000) and are responsible for the $1,000 physical damage deductible.

MHC recommends that individuals read the membership agreement carefully as this is a legal contract.

MHC does not provide any insurance in excess of ZipCar's insurance unless the vehicle is rented for college business. Mount Holyoke College's contractual relationship with ZipCar allows ZipCar to place vehicles for community use on our campus in exchange for favorable membership and rental rates for members of the MHC community.

Mount Holyoke has an affiliation with Zipcar to support student access to their self-service, on-demand car sharing in the area.
